Trick-Or-Treat

October 31, 2008: This is approx. 4 p.m. We made it home from school (where Lillian had worn her costume in the morning for the party then changed to regular clothes) and immediately put costumes on (again) to get ready for early trick-or-treating in downtown Guthrie. I convinced Lillian to pose for a few pictures.

4:10 p.m. Lucas is more fascinated with the tiny pumpkins, but at least he didn't notice that I put the costume on his head.

4:15 p.m. Move on to impromptu shots of Lucas playing with an Easter egg (we confuse our holidays in small towns!).
Lucas decided the egg would be great in the pumpkin. Somehow, I think the Easter bunny would be offended.
4:25 p.m. He spent the next several minutes taking the egg out and putting it back in.

4:30 p.m. Brent arrives at home and we load up to join the throngs of people descending on the downtown merchants. Hundreds, possibly thousands, of people walk shoulder to shoulder around town, collecting candy before dispersing to various church carnivals, neighborhood trick-or-treating, or the home football game.
5:00 ish: This was Lillian's attitude for the majority of the walk; she didn't want to be there and she wasn't afraid to show it. She had some hang- up with saying "trick-or-treat."
5:45 p.m. After waiting in 2 drive-thru lines (we couldn't agree on food), we made it home and scarfed pizza and tacos, respectively.
6:30 p.m. The real fun begins! We met up with our neighbor friends, Emily, Noah, and Zach, with intentions of canvassing the neighborhood. Lillian begins to catch a spark and spends the next hour racing from house to house, calling out, "I see one! Their lights are on!" Obviously, she has some sort of vampire gene that causes her to prefer dark over daylight where candy is concerned.

Lucas happily cruises in his stroller with the Tinkerbell wand that is forgotten amidst the excitement of a sugar high.

I love the look Lillian has on her face in the 5 pm pic. I'm sure I gave my mom plenty of those looks!

Looks like you guys had a great time. Josh would hate the downtown Guthrie part with ALL those people...I personally think it looks like fun : )
