Gone Fishing

Brent brought Lillian her own Barbie tackle box today since the 2 of them have been talking about going fishing now that the weather is warmer. Lillian loved the box and proceeded to fill it with things she thought she would need to fish. She put in silly putty, her blankie, a plastic worm, and other small items. At one point I heard her say, "I need my lipstick and my keys. Has anyone seen my keys?"

She might be a fisherwoman on the outside, but she's a girly girl at heart!

Lucas- 2 mo Check-up

Here he is... 2 months old!
We had his 2 month check-up today with 3 shots. He cried and Lillian laughed. She was glad it wasn't her seeing the doctor! Here are Lucas' stats: weight- 13lbs. height- 24 in. Since I'm not one of those moms who can quote her kids' weight at different ages (you laugh but I have friends who can!), I looked in Lillian's baby book to see how Lucas stacks up to her. She was 12 lb. 6 oz and 24 in. at 2 months. Needless to say, height/length is our strong point!

Lucas is smiling at everything now. He is starting to roll from back to side and then back again. His head control is very good and likes to sit on our laps looking around. He also puts weight on both legs and pushes up like he is trying to stand. He has created a routine for himself and it fits nicely with what the rest of the family needs to do. Still not sleeping all night but often goes from 8 p.m. to 3a.m. without waking to eat. I'm hoping at this time next month I will be getting a full night's sleep without interruption. Somehow, I just don't know if it will ever happen considering Lillian still wakes up most nights. Lucas definitely likes his thumb and will suck on it to self-soothe. It is adorable! He will offically be 10 weeks old tomorrow.

I think the wind caused Lucas to have such a worried face!

Cousin Cole's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Cole's 1st birthday this weekend. Cousin Jackson came from Kansas City along with his mom and dad. On Sat. night, Lillian was the only girl in a house of 5 boys ranging in age from 10 wks to 4 years. 4 of those 5 were under the age of 2! I think I finally found all the toys that were strung about the house in a twisted toddler game of hide and seek. Good times!

We (I) Survived!

I took both kids to Walmart for the first time...and lived to tell about it! My mom has hairy stories about taking all 4 of us to the grocery store and I was nervous about 2 little munchkins! I recall hearing about the time I turned over a cartful of groceries and, I believe, my brother was riding in the cart at the time. Thankfully, Lucas slept through his first trip. I was able to keep his head covered to avoid the "Walmart germs" that scare me at the Guthrie store. Lillian was a big help, retrieving things off the shelves and begging for stuff on every aisle. She managed to get me to buy Fruit Roll ups. A bargain in exchange for a peaceful trip!

Since I Don't Have a Sister...

Lucas was the willing or maybe unsuspecting partner in Lillian's game of makeup. It brought back memories of feeding Trace baby powder mixed with water and calling it milk. I also recall Trace and I telling Ty that the peel of the orange is the best part to eat!

Weekend Shenanigans

I found my thumb!

Granddad and Lucas

Lillian loves the exercise ball!

The cold temps once again foiled our weekend plans but we were able to spend some time with the grandparents so it was worth it.

Valentine Loot

Lillian and Lucas love their Valentine stuffed animals!

On a Mom note, I had one of those enlightening moments yesterday when a box arrived addressed to Lillian and Lucas Young. When I saw both names together, it really hit me that we have 2 children! As if childbirth and sleepless nights weren't enough.... Seriously, there was something about seeing it in black and white that cinched the deal.

Mullet Baby

First of all, I'm not sure I spelled mullet right. And, yes, that comes from the English teacher! Sadly, Lucas is losing his hair except for the part right at his neck. Hence, the picture.

Dinner Conversation

Overheard at the dinner table:

Lillian: "Mom, can we go to China?"

When asked why she wanted to go to China, Lillian said, "To see what's there!"

Duh, Mom!!!!

Our Big Boy

Lucas is doing new stuff every day. He smiles quickly when you get in his face and talk to him. We are pretty sure he is really smiling at us! He talks and coos at his toys and almost "shouts" if he thinks you're not paying attention to him. Our little genius has figured out he can wave his arms and hit the toys hanging above his bouncy seat. I think he is laid back and content to occupy himself for what seems like a long time for being less than 2 mo. I also think Lillian will be his greatest entertainment! As the bib and his face suggest, he certainly does love his big sister!

Fun Things Happen On The Weekend!

Shaving cream and a craft kit from Hobby Lobby prompted some creative play by Lillian on Sat. Lucas discovered a new toy I brought down from the attic. He is perfectly content to watch the colors move around. Lillian likes to demonstrate how the toy works; she thinks she remembers it from her babyhood.

Fickle Weather

Taking advantage of the warm temps, I took the kids to the zoo on Monday. With a high of 78 it was a day we couldn't pass up! Lucas slept most of the time but woke up at the end and saw the monkeys. As we were heading out of the zoo, Lillian fell on the sidewalk. She tore a hole in her pants, bloodied her knee, and cried all the way home. Now that Lucas uses her spot in the stroller, she had to walk the rest of the way to the car. We were quite a sight! Sweaty, tear-stained, bloody, and..... well, you get the idea. No pics of the knee but a Curious George bandaid sure helped!

Cold Week

When Brent left for California Monday, I decided we would venture to Porter Hill and spend a few days with Grammy and Granddad. We had a great time doing things indoors since it was sooooo... cold! Lillian colored, built a kitty house with blankets, and played mini-golf with a bat, styrofoam ball, and a cup. Lucas was busy hanging out in the swing and being carried around. We visited the clinic on Wed. for a "viewing" of Lucas. Both kids wore their boots and Lillian had a cowgirl hat and stick horse. We saw Grandma Charlotte and Papa Wednesday night at church. The intention was to return home on Thursday but the weather in Guthrie did not seem favorable for a return trip. Lillian and Grammy had several hilarious games of Twister. No, I didn't take pictures! Brent was able to fly back to OKC and joined us Thursday night. Trace and Sarah invited us to supper and we watched skiing video and Wyatt's latest escapade. All in all, it was a good week. I wonder what next week will have in store for us?!?!
