One More...

I think we caught another smile! Lucas responds to voices by turning his head and waving his arms. If you look at him and talk in a sing song baby voice, he rewards you with a grin. Brent gets the biggest grins.
This morning we were greeted with a beautiful amaryllis flower. Thanks Mom and Dad!

What a Week!

Did we catch a smile? I think so! Lillian has been caught carrying Lucas down the hall when she thinks we haven't responded to his cries in a timely fashion.
Lillian's kitchen is the source of daily playtime. She cooks very well but the clean-up part is in the works. We get the whole restuarant experience because she asks that you sit down, hands you a menu, and writes your order on a notepad. The imagination of a 4 year old is astonding!
Saturday morning, 10a.m.: Lucas is still sound asleep. He woke at 7 then went back to sleep for another nap. If only Lillian would have done that...
Saturday afternoon: Birthday party for friend Briana Crick in Cashion, OK.
We celebrated Brent's brithday Sat. night with dinner at Kang's. Heather and Jesse came to babysit and everyone survived! No pictures of these events; everyone was too busy. Heather and Jesse did a good job because Lucas slept until 4a.m. without waking. He was worn out!

Lucas- 1 month

Somehow we neglected to take a picture on the 19th but these were taken on the 21st. For a second child, that's close enough!. Lucas has changed so much the past 2 weeks. I've bragged about his sleeping for 5-6 hour stretches but he heard me because last night he was up every 2 hours. Newborn clothes are gone and some 3 month clothes are too short. He coos after he eats, loves the swing, and has to have his head up, looking around, when carried on my shoulder. He will be 5 wks tomorrow.

At Work and Play

Lillian had a busy weekend! Santa brought her a Leapster (like a GameBoy but educational) and she plays games and colors/paints in her "spare" time. She helped me put together folders for our church's prison ministry on Sat. That prompted some interesting discussion!
A quote from Lillian: "When Lucas sees a shooting star, he will wish to be a baby bird." She says it with the cutest little voice, complete with arm flapping action. Does she want him to fly away?!?!

An Early Senior Moment?!?!

Observation in the Young household: This morning, Brent jumped off the couch and walked quickly to the kitchen. He stopped and paused for a few seconds then said, "Now, why did I come in here?"

Sweetie, 30 is going to hit you hard! You have 1 more week to enjoy being 29!

Our Week in Review

Lillian has an entire collection of small Beanie animals that she plays with everyday. They are put to bed every night and then make an appearance the next morning. She builds houses for them and puts them in shapes to make letters (creativity at it's finest!) Lucas doesn't do much but hang out when he's awake. This week he smiled at Lillian- it was a big toothless grin! I'm trying to capture it on film. No luck yet.

Friday: We met Carsten Coffman at McDonald's for a playdate. Of course, Jennifer and the twins, Cohen and Teegin, were there. Lucas slept the whole time.

Hunting Trip

Brent went on his annual pheasant hunting trip January 10-12. He might have more to add to this post but here is a picture of the kill.

First Bath

Lucas takes his first bath! Since this tramautic day, he now enjoys his bath and goes in without a fuss. He'll appreciate this shot of his private parts later in life...

A New Project

After being inspired by other friends who have started blogging their family life, I will attempt to do so for our little family in 2008. You can check our blog as often as you like to view pictures and journaling about our everyday life in the Young household. I have resolved to find joy in every day during this new year and taking pictures will be one way to celebrate the mundane events of everyday living.
