Another One Finished...

I started with a thrifted pillowcase...

And ended with a skirt for Lillian.

This is not an original idea; I found several tutorials online like here .
I've also seen tutorials for pillowcase dresses but haven't seen one that I think will look right on a big 6 year old- adorable on younger girls but I fear my Lillian is growing up!

Adventures in Potty Training

This is how Lucas has spent the past 3 days (except he usually has a shirt on): wearing big boy underwear!

Isn't this the cutest tush ever?!?!
We started somewhat accidently(no pun intended!) but quickly realized he "gets it" and decided to stick with it. The unexpected weather has caused us to be home and inside more than I anticipated so it worked perfectly with getting the potty training going.

Lucas has only had 4 accidents in 3 days- pretty good in my book! After doing it with 2 kids, my opinion is that going straight to underwear/panties is the key to potty training. Pull-ups or whatever only slow the process. It also helps to have a big sister willing to participate in the learning process...as long as she gets Skittles, too!

Wardrobe Refashion

Here is a project I worked on today:

I started with an Old Navy knit shirt, sz large. I had it in the donate pile and dug it out for this project. I measured Lillian and cut the sides to take it in to fit her.

I used cookie cutters to cut out flower and butterfly shapes in a fun fabric.

The finished product: a little wide in the shoulder but has that 80's casual look to it.

Spring Break

The weather has had it's ups and downs this week. I hear we're in for snow tomorrow...we'll see. For now, here is a sampling of our week:
Last Friday: hangin' at home
Sunday and Monday- ice storm clean-up in Porter Hill

Wednesday: Zoo trip with Carsten, Cohen, Teegin, Kayden, and Carter

Thursday: 1 day+2 parks+3hours= sunburn and lots of fun!

Friday: At home and working in the garden

Inspiration

I've cleaned out the Favorites tab on my computer and added some of the sites I regularly visit to my sidebar under My Favorite Sites and Inspiration. For my crafty/sewing readers, you might find something interesting for your next project. My list of "projects" has morphed into something huge! I have so many ideas swimming in my head...

Any new projects in your life?

Cousins and Friends

We spent some time this weekend in Duncan with cousins and friends. The kids and adults had a great time and enjoyed beautiful weather!

The boys: ornary, fun, never still, buddies

The girls: thank goodness they have each other!

This face: precious boy, makes me happy and glad to be a mom, makes our lives an endless round of fun

If he survives being a 2 year old, it will make all of us a little happier!

Grass is always greener on the other side.

Cereal For Breakfast...And Lunch...And Dinner

Somehow, both kids ended up wearing cereal shirts this week. I like that the shirts were practically free and acquired in unusual circumstances. Lucas' came as a hand-me-up from Nathan and Lillian's came from our thrift store excursion a few weeks ago. It was a 50 cent bargain!
