In the midst of a garage sale weekend, we had family over for a cookout. Lillian and Lucas love playing with their cousin, Cole. Papa was the lucky one to pull them around in a wagon.
We've had a lot of pool time this week. Neighborhood kids have been over a couple of days and old friends we haven't seen in forever came on Friday. Lillian got a nasty sunburn Tuesday even with multiple applications of sunscreen. The sun was really intense that day! Lucas, of course, gets darker and darker every day. He doesn't need sunscreen to ward off a sunburn, just for sun protection.
All that time in the sun finally added up to THIS when I realized Lillian had been quiet in her room for awhile. Lucas and I peeked in to find her asleep in the middle of a "project."
I'm finally starting my list of summer projects. This skirt was so easy to do and could have been finished in less than 2 hours, start to finish, if I didn't have people asking for a drink and a snack every 30 minutes. I found the idea HERE.
Grace Violet is quickly becoming my go-to spot for easy, crafty sewing ideas. I really need to find some ideas for boys. If any of you know of some great sites, let me know.
Lillian does one chore a day and earns $3 at the end of the week. She chose the 5 chores she thought were in her ability range. The clothes pin moves down the chart, telling her what chore to do each day.
Lucas is skilled at unloading the dishwasher. Since this is one of many chores I dislike, I thought it wise to train both kids in the art of putting things away. He can't quite see over the silverware drawer but getting them out of the dishwasher is half the battle.
Lillian scolded me today for leaving the door to our utility room open where she had been playing a computer game. I told her I would be going back in there soon and had, consequently, left the door open.
"But, Mom, I really need you to shut it when you leave."
"Why? Are we being too loud?"
"No, I just need a break from Lucas every once and awhile."
