I Finally Get It

After months, possible years, of grumbling every time my extremely thirsty daughter wanted a drink, I finally hit on a solution. I didn't want her downing Capri-Sun or juice boxes at every turn so I filled 6 cups with juice/water and put them in the fridge first thing in the morning. Then, she can access them at will. If she drinks them all before bedtime, then she has to have water only. Finally! Freedom from drink servitude!

Motherhood sucks your brain cells.

Weekend Warriors

Our 4 day weekend started in Tulsa with a night in a hotel with Grandma Charlotte and Papa (see Lucas in the previous post). Then, we visited Uncle Ty to see his new house. Aunt Lindsey was working so we missed seeing her. I didn't take a picture of their house but Ty took us to a neat park that is in their neighborhood.


After we left Tulsa, we headed to Greenwood, MO to see Uncle Smokey, Aunt Kristy, and Jackson. They took us to the Deanna Rose Children's Farm in Overland Park, KS. This place is a must- see if you are ever in the area! First of all, it's free! They operate on donations. Second, there are many animals for the kids to pet, beautiful flowers everywhere, and play areas galore.

Lillian wasn't completely enthused about feeding baby goats.

Lucas 7 months

Lucas turned 7 months on Sat. Here he is in a pile of pillows on a hotel bed.

- No teeth but still drooling like they should be here soon
-Today he pulled up on a tub of toys! Yikes!
-Has tried a french fry and gummed a cucumber slice
-Has decided he definitely doesn't like green vegetables!
-Wants to keep up with mobile kids sooo badly!
-Loves his walker, especially when he has lots of room to move like the driveway
-Reaches out for someone when he wants to be held
-Makes all kinds of sounds and noises like he's "talking"

As a person who NEVER wins anything, today will remain in my memory for a long time. On the vintage book site that I frequent, I entered to win a vintage children's book and I won! Imagine my surprise when I checked the site today and saw my booksite listed as the winner. Go here to see what I won.

Finger Paint

It has already been a busy morning! While cleaning out my extensive pile of recipes to try, I found one for homemade finger paint. I tried it this morning and Lillian helped by adding the food color. It was so easy! I think this would be great to make to use for Bible class, a kid's party, or anywhere you need a large amount of paint for cheap.

Here is the recipe: Stir 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1/2 cup cornstarch together; add 2 cups of cold water, and heat over medium heat until the mixture is thick (the mixture will further thicken as it cools).

Divide into 4 or more containers, and add food coloring as desired. (I used small ziplock containers)

Weekend Warriors

We spent a relaxing weekend at home but we were busy every minute. Here are some of the things we did:

Weeding the garden is a constant chore.

Lillian played "train" with the barstools.
Zoo trip:Part 2- Brent rarely goes to the zoo with us so Sat. morning we all headed out for a couple of hours in the heat before going home to swim.

Kid-Free

Both of the L's are with my parents until tomorrow so my (almost) daily posts will be limited. I think I have some pics saved somewhere for a time such as this...I might pull them out. For now, I enjoyed a day of shopping in several stores that are NOT kid-friendly and am looking forward to a full 8 hours of sleep.



The house is a little too quiet...I wonder what they're doing without me :(

Zoo Monday

We have untold numbers of pictures with Lillian posing on sculptures at the zoo. However, that didn't stop me from taking one more.
