Early Birthday Present

Uncle Ty and Aunt Lindsey sent Lucas an early birthday present, thinking he might get to wear it longer. It is an adorable onesie with a tie stitched on the front. He wore it to church today and many people commented on how cute it was! We had a hard time getting a picture as we were leaving this morning but it certainly makes him look like a big boy!

Turkey Talk

We didn't get to enjoy the holiday food as much as we would have liked this year. A nasty stomach bug ran through the 4 of us over the course of 3 days. Lucas had it early in the week but it hit the rest of us on Wednesday. We recovered in 24 hours but the main meals were at an end. The kids did get to play with cousins. We hope no one else was infected with this unfortunate sickness!

Josie tries to take the pacifier.

Pilgrim Hat Cookies

The finished product
This is so easy! I used fudge striped cookies, yellow tinted frosting, mini Reese's cups, and Tic Tacs. I chilled them to keep the frosting and chocolate from getting soft.

Prairie Dogs and Leaves @Grammy and Granddad's

*Sorry! There are waaaay too many pictures but it was hard to narrow it to these!
Doing exactly what you should never do to a prairie dog hole- yes, she's a rule follower.
Look closely- he's in the background.
Lucas doesn't care for the bright sun or wind. And, yes, his hat and jacket don't match. I really need to remedy that to keep him with the Young family color scheme in the fall. Orange, orange, and orange!

I love the smoky look of this picture caused by the sun.

Nothing beats a tasty leaf!

Fashion Mommy

Please note: a black diaper bag is slung over her shoulder, hidden from camera view. She requested help with the bag as she and her babies moved next door (our bedroom) to the "hotel."

Curious George Consequences

When Brent came home this evening, Lillian's first order of business was to get him to help her with the pulley system they bought at Lowe's this weekend. She saw it on Curious George and insisted she needed one, too. They are outside right now, trying to rig it up from our patio to the neighbor's fence. I think they just discovered the rope was too short so Plan B is to go from the patio to the trampoline. Her next project is to get pvc pipe to make a periscope. PBS deserves my financial support for enhancing her creativity!

He's Here!

My brother, Trace, and his wife, Sarah, welcomed Nathan Hayes Kirkpatrick around 9:20 this morning. He weighed 8lbs., 13oz. and was 21 in. long.
This makes boy cousin #4 for my kids. Lillian and I want to see some pink!

Christmas Gift From The Past

For Lillian's 2nd Christmas (she was 15 months old), we bought her a pop up tent so she could crawl through the tunnels and hide. While it seemed to be a good idea at the time, it has become the thing that will never go away. We have threatened to sell it, give it away, or burn it more times than you can count but it is still with us! Now Lucas has discovered the joy of playing with it as well so it looks like it will be with us awhile longer. It has made 2 appeareances this week, with giggles and cackles coming from both kids. Yep, it will be around for while!

"Hey, what are those?"

4 Teeth and Counting

There are at least 4 teeth in there but you're taking a risk by sticking your finger in his mouth to check. Others are so close to busting through that you can see and feel the shape of each tooth.

(Are you seeing the recurring color scheme worn around our house?!)

Weekend Warriors

After a morning at the mall and Toys R Us, we spent the afternoon at Pump It Up. It was the birthday party of Lillian's friend, Thompson. Even Lucas got in on the action, but I think he's sticking out his thumb for a ride with someone going slower!
